Been Awhile…..

It has been awhile since I have posted anything, life just seems to have gotten away from me….LOL. I quit my job a few months ago in hopes that I would have more time to do things and to spend working on school, but it seems life has gotten busier since then and I have less free time than before. Haven’t quite figured out that one yet.

So I thought I would just post a quick update to say that things are going well with schooling. Since I had quit working we have had more time to work on school which has made it a lot more fun. We are able to actually spend time on the science experiments and enjoy doing them together, though a couple of them didn’t work quite like I think they were supposed to. One of them was to find the different freezing points of water, rubbing alcohol, and the two mixed, but the only one I could get to freeze was the plain water. Maybe my freezer just isn’t cold enough? Oh well, we had fun trying anyways.

Halloween was a lot of fun! We went trick or treating, then after that we had a fun little activity for the kids. We took different things such as cooked spagetti noodles, peeled grapes, etc and then blindfolded the kids and had them put thier hands in the bowls to touch everything, telling them to guess what body part it would represent. They were really grossed out, but had a blast doing it!

Now it is almost Thanksgiving! Time is just flying by! Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Long Time….

Well, it has obviously been awhile since my last post, so I thought I had better update this before everyone starts to think I got lost or something…LOL.  I have been exceptionally busy with work and summer activities with the kiddos, so haven’t been online much lately. When I have been on the computer, I have been playing my Heroes 3 game, which can be rather addicting at times.

My oldest daughter is doing well. She is still in a cast and is scheduled to have the screws in her foot removed on August 3rd. I am not sure how long she will continue to have to be in a cast after that, but she has been in good spirits about it most of the time.

I have already gotten most of my homeschool books from COVA and the little ones were excited to see what all we will be learning about this fall, though they are definitley not wanting summer break to end.  We start school on August 10th, and they think that is too soon….LOL. I also put in my notice at my job and am just waiting for them to find a replacement for my position. I plan on staying home so I can focus on school this year, last year was a bit tough trying to keep up with working and schooling both.

Our family went to the mountains with some friends that have a cabin owned by thier family this last weekend and had a great time. It was very relaxing and much cooler there, no one was ready to leave Sunday afternoon, and when we returned to Pueblo, everyone was ready to turn around and go back because of the heat here.

So what have you been up to this summer? Hope you are having a great one!

Surgery Went Well

Hey everyone! My oldest daughter’s surgery went very well.  We were able to come home yesterday afternoon so we were happy about that.  The doctor ended up putting in two screws in her foot that will need to come out in about 8 weeks or so, so she is looking at probably being in a cast for about 4 months.  She was not real thrilled about that, but seems to be taking things a lot better since she accepted the fact that she would have to walk down the graduation isle next week on crutches.  I want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and support!  I hope everyone is having a great week!

Surgery Update

My oldest daughter’s surgery was postponed until tomorrow (Wednesday morning) at 7:30 a.m. due to the fact that the surgeon was the trama surgeon on call and had an emergency on Monday. So again, I will let everyone know how things go.

Update

Just wanted to give a quick update to my last post. My oldest daughter is scheduled to have surgery on her foot on Monday afternoon. Just keep her in your prayers that all goes well and I will update to let everyone know how it went.

Almost Done

We are getting close to being done with school for the year, so my kiddos are pretty excited. Of course I am too, I am ready for a bit of a break. But as we get closer to the end of the school year, it seems it has been getting busier all the time! LOL  My two youngest that I homeschool have several activities with COVA and our homeschool group coming up that we are wanting to attend so I have been trying to rearrange my schooling and work schedule for those things.

My two oldest will also be graduating this month, so we have been scrambling to get invitations sent out and plans made for thier graduation party and all the things that go along with that. And as if that wasn’t enough, my oldest daughter fell and hurt her foot, so we had to do x-rays and a CT scan, and will find out on Thursday if she will need surgery to put pins in her foot. And then there is the drama to go along with that due to the fact that she will be most likely accepting her diploma on crutches. (Not to mention that she is a little worried about the idea of having surgery.) But I know the Lord is in control and everything happens for a reason!

So how has your week been? How close are you to finishing the school year and does it seem more or less busy to you as the school year gets closer to being over?

Last Few Days….

The last few days have been just crazy around here…LOL  Thursday afternoon the Profession Bull Riders Association finally offered my husband, Bill, a job! We are ecstatic! The Lord is sooo awesome! (For those of you who don’t already know, he had been unemployed for about 7 months but God has been taking good care of us!) He had been interviewing, etc. with them for about 3 months. For now it is just a 3 month temporary contract and then they will decide if they want to hire him permanent or not. Friday was his first day and he really enjoyed it, but as he said when he got home, he was definitely on information overload. I took the kiddos to my sister’s house while I was at work, but by the time we got done chatting when I went to pick them up, it was too late to get much school accomplished, so we took the day off.

Then on Saturday we went to a tweetup in Denver for the 12for12k fundraiser (check out http://12for12k.org/ if you want to find out what it is about). We had a really awesome time getting to acutally meet some of the people that we have been tweeting online with on Twitter (http://twitter.com/) and raising money for a great cause in the process. I actually won one of the raffles too, a $25 gift certificate to Ebay! That was pretty cool.

Sunday we went to church in the morning and then to our Bible study that evening. We are doing the One Month to Live Challenge, which has been really awesome so far! We are learning to live our lives for God as if we only had a month to live, to determine what the important things in life are. So all in all, it has been very busy around here for the last few days.   So my question to you: What would be important to you if you only had one month to live?

Our Field Trip

A couple of weeks ago we took a little field trip to my oldest daughter Nichole’s EMT class.  They were needing volunteers to come in so they could work on taking vitals from children and infants.  We had a really great time! Joseph was even brave enough to let them strap him to the back board and be put on the gurney. Samantha on the other hand wanted no part of that! But she did let them take her vitals.  Of course thier favorite part was getting prizes to take home…LOL.

A Long Week

This has definitely been a long week! It has been fun, but tiring. We had gotten a bit behind on our science and art lessons due to the fact that my DH was originally working with them on those lessons, but since some of his freelance work has picked up lately, he hasn’t had as much time to work on it. So I decided it was time to play catch up….WOW, that has kept us hopping! We have been learning about the layers of the earth, fossils, and now today about soil, weathering and erosion.  Some of the projects have definitely been fun and interesting. When we learning about fossils, we had to bury a sponge “fish fossil” in a pan with some dirt. Then we added water and Epsom salt and let it sit overnight to dry out.  Then using Popsicle sticks and toothbrushes, we dug it up.  It was a lot of fun, but next time, I think we will do something like this outside, my kitchen table was a disaster when we got done…LOL

Anyways, all in all it has been an awesome week, but definitely very tiring too! So how has your week been?
